What’s Right for My Loved One?

When a loved one has decided it’s time to look into senior living options, helping them make the right decision can certainly feel overwhelming. Choosing the right level of care for your loved one ensures they get the most out of their senior living experience while keeping their overall wellbeing in mind. If you have questions on what’s right for the senior in your life, continue reading to learn about the different levels of care our campus has to offer residents.

Independent Living

If your loved one is someone who values their independence and is able to do most tasks themselves, independent living is likely the best option for them. With independent living, residents have their own apartment, cook most of their own meals (if they want to, that is), and largely take care of themselves. Independent living at a senior living community is great for allowing your loved one to make friendships, participate in activities and live life how they want.

Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation

In the time following a hospital stay, your loved one may need extra rehabilitative care to get them back on their feet. During these transitional periods, skilled nursing will assist in getting them in the swing of normal daily life. Benderson Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation at Aviva provides personalized, one-on-one treatment to our residents, with a high nurse-to-patient ratio to ensure everyone receives the best possible care. Speech, physical and occupational therapy are a few of the services we offer to patients, as well as cardiac, stoke, neurological therapy and more. One thing that patients love about our skilled nursing program is that care is provided on campus for them – meaning they can be comfortable in their home environment surrounded by friends. Once skilled nursing is no longer needed, residents can return to their life and apartment on campus.

Assisted Living

If your loved one needs a little more help taking care of themselves, assisted living may be the right choice for them. Seniors experiencing mobility issues or other health concerns may find simple tasks hard, and assisted living helps to close that gap. Assisted living differs from independent living, as on-call nurses are available 24 hours a day to help with whatever needs may arise. At Aviva, we encourage our assisted living residents to assert their independence whenever possible but are here to help with anything along the way.

Memory Care

Our promise is to provide compassionate care at all levels. Anchin Memory Care at Aviva caters specifically to residents experiencing memory loss, dementia, and Alzheimer’s disease. This unit of campus features extra 24/7 security with on-campus staff patrols, and advanced nursing care focused on providing specialized care to seniors with memory loss. To stimulate the senses and help make meaningful connections, our memory care unit features engaging activities every day and a one-of-a-kind multi-sensory suite.

Your loved one deserves care that meets their needs and has their long-term interests in mind. At Aviva, we’re proud to have all levels of life on campus. This way, in the event that your loved one’s needs change, they can comfortably age in place in a familiar and warm environment.
