Sarasota, Fla.– Kobernick-Anchin-Benderson, Sarasota’s only rental senior community offering all levels of care, announces the re-opening of the expanded state-of-the-art campus fitness center which includesHUR SmartCard Strength Equipment and 2016 Biodex Balance System. The inclusion of innovative fitness technology is an integral part of $1.4 million in this year’s campus enhancements meant to engage and nurture the mind, body and spirit. The new fitness equipment utilizes smart technology customized by the organization’s wellness and rehabilitation team to an individual’s specific needs and ability level. Through the use of smart cards, seniors will now track and save their progress with ease.According to Director of Therapy Services Elyse Gordon, M.S./CCC-SL “With the guidance of acomputerized system to set resistance, equipment with step-through entry for wheelchair access, and built-in workload safeguards for cardiovascular training, Kobernick-Anchin-Benderson’s newHUR SmartCard Strength Equipment and 2016 Biodex Balance Systemwill provide a safe and user-friendly environment for all of our residents.”Kobernick House resident Jerry Rosenthal, one of the first residents to be trained on the new smart fitness machines, has no reservations about smart technology but he did eye the new adductormachine(inner thigh machine) with some precaution at first glance. He was under the impression that the machine was strictly for women and would offer no benefit to him. Wellness Coordinator Timothy Dean was quick to correct his misconception. “Our new fitness equipment was purchased with our resident’s complete well-being in mind. With continued use of their personalized fitness plans, residents can expect to maintain or improve their strength and balance.”In the United States alone, one in three people age 65+ falls each year. The most common cause of falls includes weak muscles, unstable balance, dizziness, vision problems, side effects from medications and environmental hazards. Both the incidence of falls and the severity of fall-related complications rise steadily after age 60. Studies show that balance training, gait, strength and flexibility training not only help improve mobility and confidence, but help reduce the risk of falling. With a quick orientation and an introduction to the benefits of the new equipment Jerry Rosenthal is eager to take the new equipment on a test drive. “TheHUR SmartCard Strength Equipment and Biodex Balance Systemis very easy to use,” says Jerry Rosenthal, “I know that if I consistently work out on the new equipment I will improve my balance and my lifestyle.”“We have always been progressive in our thinking about illness prevention and health promotion,” states Heidi Brown, CEO. “The expansion of our fitness center including state-of-the-art equipment specifically geared to the needs of older adults supports Kobernick-Anchin-Benderson’s commitment to maximizing the potential for healthy and enjoyable senior living.”Kobernick-Anchin-Benderson’s Cutting Edge Fitness Equipment Includes:HUR SmartCard Strength Equipmentoffers cutting edge technology for resident’s independent use and isthe ideal choice for older adultwellness and rehabilitation.
