Aviva: A Campus for Senior Life Announces Green Initiative

Aviva: A Campus for Senior Life, Sarasota’sONLYrental senior campus offering all levels of living, is proud to announce that the organization is implementing a campus-wide green initiative. In collaboration withEcosave Inc., a global expert in energy and water management services, Aviva will reduce its energy consumption an estimated 24 percent annually.Aviva's green initiative is one of many progressive enhancements the organization has made in conjunction with the October 2016 campus rebrand. Formerly known as Kobernick-Anchin-Benderson, the rebirth of the Aviva brand aligns itself with the sense of renewal and infinite possibilities seniors experience in the organization’s resort-style environment.Energy conservation is critically important considering fossil fuels, the source of most energy, are non-renewable and detrimental to the environment. For large not-for-profit organizations, like Aviva, conserving energy can lead to financial savings. "Reducing Aviva's energy consumption will translate into funds that can be allocated for more diverse programing at Aviva,” mentioned Kobernick at Aviva resident Sandy Klein, “the changes around campus might take some time to get used to but I am glad we are doing it."Former CEO Heidi Brown championed the change by working closely with Aviva's operating and resident boards to produce an energy-saving initiative that the community would eagerly support. "Aviva's residents, volunteers and staff support our progressive agenda and feel it aligns with the campus' core values. As a community founded on traditional Jewish values of a reverence for life and a belief in its dignity, reducing the organizations' carbon footprint is a natural step," according to Brown. "Aviva's green initiative will enable us to bring sustainability, cost savings and energy efficiency to the campus while embracing our responsibility to be environmentally conscious."Starting in January 2017, the campus will replace all fixed lighting to LED and then they will begin to gradually update all 293 residential apartments with new thermostats, and water saving flow control valves and fittings. On the 13 acres Aviva occupies, new cooling towers and water heaters will replace the older, inefficient ones.Ecosave, Inc.will manage, monitor and maintain the new equipment to ensure efficiencies.
